1 Samuel 16:7b "For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”
Story:
I love painting lions! They represent God in his many facets to me. I see lions all the time during my times of worship or meditation.
This is one of my favorite lion pictures I have done to date.
I am a part of the worship team at my church, co-laboring together with the musicians to bring a visual element into our corporate worship of King Jesus.
This painting was started during one of those Sunday morning worship sets and continued on for several weeks after.
I knew the look of this lion was to be intense, his stare being very intentional to the one looking at him.
During one of those Sunday morning sets of worship, I was painting on the eye & brow portion. I took a step back to look at the progress. Quite unexpectedly the eyes & brow morphed from this intense powerful stare, into eyes of indescribable love & compassion. I shook my head and looked again at the face - it morphed back to its original state. With delight I knew the Lord was speaking clearly to me. That morning, everytime I stepped back to look at my progress, His face would change, morphing from intense stare to a look of deep love and compassion.
It was then I changed the pupil of the eye from a simple round circle to the shape of the "YOD". The first letter in the Hebrew name of God.
