This powerful painting was originally painted as a commission for a repeat client. It depicts the crucified Christ merged together with the Lion of Judah.
My version however contains many hidden elements...some intentional, some not!
- As with all of my lion's eyes...the pupil in the lion's eye is actually the Hebrew letter "YOD" - which is the 1st letter in the Hebrew name of God - YHVH. This has become part of my signature
- Notice the vertical light running down Jesus's face - it is itself a cross,
- Jesus's eye contains a cross & is painted with the colors of the Earth
These items I placed in the painting on purpose...yet then note
- Further down next to the lions nose, there is a cryptic image of Jesús hanging on the cross
- and up top in the crown of thorns on the left side is another "cross"
These latter 2 crosses I did not intentionally or know they were put in the painting, they were inserted by the Holy Spirit!
Therefore - on the left side, within Jesus, there are actually 4 crosses
The number 4 in Hebrew represents "creation" - looking at it from left to right...you have creation crucified, resurrected & redeemed - AMEN!!
(***Interesting to note*** I did not spot all of these items, they were mostly spotted by others viewing the painting & pointed out to me. The whole revelation of the contents within this painting took a couple of years to realize. I'm sure there is also more revelations to come as well! That's Just Jesus!)
While this was originally a commission & I had no intentions of selling prints, an amazing thing happened that changed the course of this piece.
About 4 days into the drying process, as it just sat on the other side of my studio, I looked at it & noticed a strange "wet spot" had appeared in the lower part of the lion mane. Looking more closely I saw that there was a streak that ran from the top of the painting to the large wet spot. I touched the wet area and noticed it was oily...."weird" I thought to myself.
I looked around and there is NOTHING on my ceiling or in the room that would have deposited anything oily onto this canvas! Annoyed & perplexed I wiped it all off but it was still very noticeable, causing me to have to paint over the area in the mane where the large spot was. I set it aside for that last part to finish drying and the very next day....BAM...another "streak" of oil appears, this time more towards the middle of the canvas but right next to where the original streak was.
All of a sudden it hit me, this was "oil from heaven" that had manifested onto the painting.
WOW!!! I was overwhelmed and amazed at what God had done. I then knew this painting had another purpose....to be released into the public arena in print form.
This painting speaks volumes and will make a fine addition to your home or as a special gift.
The original is not available for sale and remains a part of my personal collection
