The Story:
I was meditating on the Hebrew Tabernacle system after studying on how the actual sacrifices took place
The scene is this:
There is only 1 door to enter into the tabernacle. In the center is the Altar, past that is the Laver & past that the 1 door to enter the inner court. To the left of the Altar is where the actual sacrifice takes place. To the right of the Altar is a holding area - called "victory" in Hebrew
As the animals are brought into the outer court, they can see & smell the blood of those sacrificed before them
They become full of fear & terrified, this releases a chemical into their blood making it unclean for sacrifice, therefore the shepherd & priests will lead that animal to the right of the Altar, the victory area & surround the animal, stroking & speaking to it to calm it down. They tell it how much it is loved & blessed. They just love on the animal, as long as it takes, until its fears are vanquished.....Once completely calmed the sacrifice then takes place
So ... I am meditating on this scene ... when all of a sudden Jesus appears in front of the burning altar
He looks at that lamb & in his eyes I see overwhelming passion for the lamb
He walks straight up to the lamb, gently takes its head in His hand, wipes the tears from its eye & speaks ...
"I Got This - you don't have to go. I'll take your place"
Then suddenly - the lamb ..... becomes me!
There is a hidden elements within this painting:
- The tear is a roughly shaped Hebrew letter "Hey" which symbolizes "breath" - its the same "breath" God breathed into Adam upon his creation, the same letter that changed Abram's name to Abraham...Jesus is wiping away death & replacing it with the breath of LIFE!
- The lambs eye in shades of purple, reflects the "royalty" he is gazing upon - Jesus
- The background is shades of red with a partial glaze overlay with spots of violet to represent the royalty & the blood
- Look closely at the back of the hand of Jesus - there is a mark that looks slightly like a scar. I did not intentionally paint that - it is a Holy Spirit addition! AMEN!
